Richards Bay Brace For Sold-Out Clash Against Log Leaders Sundowns

Richards Bay have confirmed that tickets for their Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns later this month will go on sale on Wednesday, 15 April.

The Natal Rich Boyz, who have suffered only one league defeat at home this season, will host the log leaders at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Sunday, 26 April.

Tickets for the encounter are expected to sell out before matchday, much like their recent 2-2 draw with Orlando Pirates at the same venue, which was played in front of a full house on Friday.

After holding Pirates to a draw, Richards Bay co-coach Papi Zothwane made it clear that his side will not be doing any favours when they face Sundowns, as they remain focused on their own ambitions of finishing in the top eight.

“They [Pirates] can’t bank on us because we have our own mission, just like they have theirs,” said Zothwane.

“What we always emphasise to our players is that no team must come here and dominate us. That’s the mindset for every opponent we face.

“That’s why we have only lost one league game at home, against Orbit College. I don’t count the AmaZulu result, as that was in the Nedbank Cup.

“It’s difficult to beat us here because we are not only playing for ourselves, but also for our supporters, who have been eager to watch matches here.

“When they come here, they must get something from us. It feels good to play in front of our supporters again after a long time, and everything we do is for them.”

In the meantime, Richards Bay, who are 11th in the Betway Premiership standings with 27 points from 24 matches, will travel to Mbombela Stadium to face TS Galaxy on Sunday.
