Richards Bay co-coach Ronnie Gabriel believes Lindokuhle Zikhali deserves to be considered for the PSL Young Player of the Season award.
The 21-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Natal Rich Boyz this season, featuring in 29 matches across all competitions and scoring two goals.
Those strikes came against Magesi in a victory last September and in a well-taken effort during a 2–2 draw against Orlando Pirates at home last month.
“Zikhali has been fantastic,” said Gabriel.
“If you look at the numbers and the stats, he is right up there with the best in the league.
“For the Young Player of the Season award, he can compete with anyone on his day. He has shown his value to the squad and proven that he belongs at this level.
“The encouraging part is that he is improving every day—in training and in matches. You can see his game developing and reaching new levels. We are happy so far, and if he wins that award, we would be very proud of him as a club.”
According to PSL criteria, a player must be 21 or younger on the first day of the season (August 2025) to qualify for the category.
Zikhali meets the threshold, having been under 21 at the start of the 2025 season, despite turning 21 last month.
The current PSL Young Player of the Season is Relebohile Mofokeng, who has won the award in back-to-back campaigns.
The Natal Rich Boyz, currently 10th in the Betway Premiership standings with 31 points from 26 matches, will once again look to Zikhali to spark when they host Polokwane City at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Wednesday.
