Richards Bay has called on the country to rally behind their former player, Ashay Sewlall, who is currently a contestant on Big Brother Mzansi Season 6.
Sewlall began his professional football career in 2020 when he signed his first professional contract with the Natal Rich Boyz at the age of 18. During his time at the club, he went on to captain the team’s U23 side in the DStv Diski Challenge.
He was part of Richards Bay winning the National First Division title in the 2021–22 season, which secured the club’s promotion to the Premier Soccer League. Sewlall was also part of the team that won the SALGA Games.
In June 2025, Sewlall took on a new challenge outside football by transitioning to long-distance running, completing the Comrades Marathon — an 89km down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
In January this year, Sewlall entered Big Brother Mzansi Season 6, titled “Bazozwa”, making history as the first Indian contestant in the show’s history.
He has quickly become a fan favourite in the house, earning the nickname “Paprika” thanks to his energetic personality and spicy vibes.
Having been the club that first spotted and nurtured his career, the Natal Rich Boyz family has thrown its full support behind Sewlall and is encouraging the public to vote for him, with voting currently free.
